On 28 May 2008 the EU announced that it will give $35M to Liberia.

On 29 May 2008 the World Bank, based in Washington, announced that it will give $10M to Liberia.

And on 30 May 2008 … wait for it … Liberia announced its recognition of Kosovo.

Transdniestria’s claim to independent statehood is based on international law. Kosovo’s, it seems, is based on more worldly concerns.
