Germany’s Der Spiegel, as authoritative a source as any, calls Kolbasna

a storage facility of obsolete weapons

and it is true that there is nothing there anymore which is worth much of anything to anybody.

There’s an interesting profile here, based on a rare visit to Kolbasna.

Well, perhaps not that rare after all … because international weapons inspectors seem to come and go, which contradicts the “popular wisdom” (Moldovan, mostly, and wholly wrong) that Transdniestria is not open and transparent.
